BONHAM ELEMENTARY

The new Bonham Elementary opened in Fall, 2007.

Located on 17 acres at the intersection of Old Hearne Rd. and Wilkes Drive, the new school is adjacent to the existing school.


DAVILA MIDDLE SCHOOL

Work continues on the district’s fourth middle school which will sit on 30 acres at the intersection of North Texas Avenue and Earl Rudder Freeway. All drywall is complete on the project. Technology cabling is still in progress. The exterior aluminum canopies are installed. Marker boards have been installed in the 6th and 8th grade classrooms. The VCT flooring and carpet have been installed in the 6th and 8th grade corridors.

Davila Middle School is adjacent to the Bryan Regional Athletic Center (BRAC), creating opportunities for shared facilities such as concessions and parking. Traffic flow patterns have been identified, with access being planned for all sides of the property.

The Board of Trustees approved new middle school attendance zones which will take effect in Fall, 2008. Click here to view the zones. A school choice option will allow students to apply for transfer to the campus of their choice.

RUDDER HIGH SCHOOL

Much of the interior work is complete. Mechanical piping is in progress in the administration area. Ceramic tile is being installed in the student restrooms. Drywall finishers continue in classrooms and administration areas. All block is complete at the Field House.

The 97-acre campus site is at the intersection of Old Reliance Road and Austin's Colony Parkway.

The Board of Trustees approved attendance zones for Rudder and Bryan High Schools. Click here to see the zones.

Rudder and Davila are scheduled to open in Fall, 2008.

Bond Referendum Passes (February, 2005)

Bryan voters gave overwhelming approval to the $104.25 million Bryan ISD Bond Referendum Feb. 26. Both propositions on the ballot passed.

Proposition I passed with 3,185 votes (74.84%) in favor, and 1,071 (25.16%) against.

Proposition II passed with 2,853 (66.88%) in favor, and 1,413 (33.12%) against.

Total voter turnout was 4,303 of the 41,619 registered voters, a 10.34 percent turnout.

Proposition I, at $98.75 million, provides for the construction of a second high school in the district, a fourth middle school, and a new Bonham Elementary. Eleven other campuses will receive renovations and upgrades to their facilities.

Proposition II, at $5.5 million, provides for a natatorium at High School #2, pending city participation, a gymnastics competition facility, and repairs and renovations to Viking Field House and athletic complex.

"We are very pleased that the citizens of Bryan have passed this bond," said BISD Superintendent Mike Cargill. "We appreciate the confidence the voters have shown in our plans. We've got a lot of work ahead of us now, but we're very excited about the future of Bryan ISD. We're excited about what this means not only to Bryan ISD, but the community of Bryan as well."

School Sites Selected (March, 2005)

Bryan trustees approved the purchase of 30-acres to be the site of the district's fourth middle school. The land is at the intersection of Texas Avenue and Earl Rudder Freeway, adjacent to the Bryan Regional Athletic Complex.

The school board agreed to purchase the land for $379,750 from M.D. Wheeler Ltd. during a March 7, 2005 workshop session.

A 97-acre tract on Old Reliance Rd., just east of the Earl Rudder Freeway, has been selected as the location for High School #2. An additional tract comprising 66 acres on W. Villa Maria Rd across from the Traditions development has also been purchased for future development.

The tentative opening date for both schools is Fall, 2008.
