Dear Bryan ISD Families,

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our schools. We are so excited about the record turnout at so many of our campus and district events. Your involvement makes our school community stronger and our students and staff love the family participation.

CITY COUNCIL APPROVES ZONING REQUEST FOR AUXILIARY COMPLEX

We are grateful for the approval last night and are excited about building the Ruby Haliburton Auxiliary Complex on the land we own at N. Harvey Mitchell Pkwy. & Leonard Rd. Members of the Ruby Haliburton family were at the meeting and are especially honored to see this project move forward.

RUBY HALIBURTON AUXILIARY COMPLEX

The Auxiliary Complex, which will house transportation, maintenance, food services, custodial, warehouse, records management, and a multipurpose training room is part of the 2020 Bond projects. Voters approved replacing buildings built in 1976 that are at the end of their useful life and much too small for our needs. Our goal is to have it finished by the Spring of 2024. This needed facility will serve us well for years to come. We are thankful for the voters approving the 2020 Bond because an investment in our district is an investment in children.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES

  • Safety and Security  Always Our Top Priority  Thank you for your cooperation with the safety procedures at all of our facilities. We will continue to train staff and provide resources to keep our students and staff safe. It is our expectation that all exterior doors and interior doors remain locked. We ask all visitors to use the front entry door and to be patient as we implement safety procedures for checking in and out of the campus. Additionally, please encourage your child to use the B-Safe App, and to follow the best practice of See Something, Say Something.

There are other big things happening in Bryan ISD!

    • New School  We are on schedule and under budget for the new Sadberry Intermediate School, opening in the Fall of 2023.
    • New Boundaries – With Sadberry opening next year, Bryan ISD is determining attendance boundaries. Please be on the lookout for a survey emailed to you in the coming weeks as we value feedback for this important process. Our goal is to ask the School Board to approve our recommendations in December or January so we can officially announce which students will attend the new school. Additionally, we are reviewing over and underutilized schools to determine if there is an opportunity to balance enrollment with attendance boundaries. We have multiple stakeholder groups and an oversight committee working on this now to ensure transparency and consideration of feedback.
    • New Home! – We are moving forward with our Bryan ISD Build in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The Family of the late Ruth Clearfield has donated a matching gift up to $40,000. That means every donation made will be matched up to $40,000! ($1 donated will now = $2 donated) We are thankful for this support as the students are working hard to raise money. Learn more at bryanisd.org/build.
  • Hats ON for the Bryan ISD Build!- A fun day is unfolding for our students and staff on October 28. We invite all staff and students to donate $1 to wear a hat to school on this day. The donations will support the Build project. More information will come from your child’s school.
  • New Award – In case you missed it, Bryan ISD was named a “District of Distinction” by the Texas Art Education Association for the third consecutive year! Only 59 out of 1,200 districts in Texas earned this honor.

Thank you for your involvement in our schools. We celebrate all students and families as we are off to a strong school start and look forward to continued success!

Sincerely,

Ginger Carrabine

Bryan ISD Superintendent
