History: The school was named for Arthur L. Davila, the first Hispanic to be elected to the Bryan Board of Trustees. Davila served on the Board from 1971 - 1984. He was an active role model in the Hispanic community and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 from the Hispanic Forum.
