Bryan ISD is pleased to announce the completion of the Bryan ISD Build Home. In partnership with BCS Habitat for Humanity, the district dedicated the home to the Quintero-Mendez family on December 15.
This first-of-its-kind effort officially began in August 2022. Led by Superintendent Ginger Carrabine, Bryan ISD students, staff and community members began the process of raising their goal of $80,000. This goal was reached in December 2022, thanks to our generous community and the family of the late Ruth Clearfield.
Every campus in Bryan ISD had a part in this making project successful. Many secondary students were able to receive hands-on experience at the build site, and our Career and Technical Education students built desks, bookshelves and a shed for the backyard. The Quintero-Mendez family also played a role in building their dream home by volunteering and assisting with building other B/CS Habitat for Humanity Homes.
“We are very thankful to the sponsors because, without them, we would not be here today,” said Jose Quintero, the new proud homeowner. His wife, Adriana, is excited about the kids decorating their own rooms. Their son Dante attends Sadberry Intermediate School, their daughter Ingrid attends Kemp-Carver Elementary School and their youngest son Justin will be a future Bryan ISD student.
“Everyone in Bryan ISD is thrilled to see this deserving family receive the keys to their new home. From beginning to end, this has been a rewarding experience for all involved,” said Ms. Carrabine.
Ms. Carrabine is thankful for the investment from our students, staff, families, and community in making this dream a reality. This has been an incredible display of our Essential 8 characteristics and a memorable life experience that we hope our students will take with them moving forward.
