UIL academic competition exists to complement the academic curriculum and is designed to motivate students as they acquire higher levels of knowledge. The UIL academic team will identify and enhance the academic skills and talents of students through observation, recruitment, practice, and UIL academic meet competition, moreover, encouraging students' appreciation of their innate talents and cultivating camaraderie amongst campus and district peers.
The UIL academic events challenge students to engage with issues of importance and provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills. There are many events for students to choose from, and students may compete in multiple events. Practices for these events will be held before or after school depending on the coach's availability. Coaches and practice times will be posted during the fall semester. The district meet will be held in the spring and will be announced at a later date.
