Admission Procedures
Students must apply to enroll in the Aspire Academy. Recruitment typically begins in December for admission to the next year. Students are admitted based on academic performance in course grades and standardized assessments such as MAP. Applications are available on the Advanced Academics web page.
Curriculum
All Aspire Academy students will be enrolled in advanced-level English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The curriculum for these classes will follow the same sequence and content as on-level classes. The difference for advanced classes is the level of depth and complexity found in classroom activities and assignments. Parents and students should expect assignments that provide a challenge and critical thinking.
Aspire students will also participate in an enrichment or intervention class each day. Enrollment in enrichment or intervention is based on individual student needs. Intervention classes will focus on building reading, writing, and/or math skills. Enrichment courses will feature six different pathways which students explore throughout the year. The six pathways are; Biomedical, Computer Science, Engineering, Fine Arts, Global Studies, and Graphic Design. Students will spend a six weeks period studying each pathway, including college and career research for the pathway. Lessons for a typical week of Enrichment will include academic skills, pathway content, team building, and test prep.
