The BISD District Improvement Plan is prepared annually in accordance with requirements of Chapter 11, Subchapter F, of the Texas Education Code, specifically §11.251 and §11.252. These requirements are also contained in BISD policies BQ(Legal) and BQA(Legal).
Each school district shall have a district improvement plan developed, evaluated, and revised annually, per district policy, by the Superintendent with the assistance of the district-level committee. The purpose of the district improvement plan is to guide district and campus staff in improving student performance for all student groups to attain state standards concerning academic excellence indicators.
The district improvement plan is also aligned with the district's Strategic Plan and correlated to the Board of Trustees' Annual Goals. The District Continuous Improvement Leadership Team (DCILT) and the District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) work to propose and refine goals, objectives, and strategies based on data and the comprehensive needs assessment.
